Report from the 11th December Event
IITBAA Hyderabad Chapter held its first event at Marakesh Morocon lounge, Durgam Cheruvu lake on 11th December, 2011. The setting was truly exotic with rocks, waterfalls, tents, a cocktail bar sponsored by Co Chair Madhu Reddy (C74) and a wholesome cuisine. Despite the short notice, as many as 62 alumni turned up for the event. Highlight of the event was that Mr. P Koteshwar Rao from the first graduating batch of 1962 mingled with fresh graduates from the latest batch of 2011, separated by almost 50 years.
IITBAA’s Decennial video was screened and this was followed by introducing the committee members to all alumni. IITBAA directors Bakul Desai and Rahul Chaubey gave a brief overview of IITBAA. Every single alumnus present spoke for a minute and a)introduced himself b)mentioned how he could help the Hyderabad chapter and c)also mentioned what he seeks from the chapter. It was decided to form special interest groups that included adventure sports, art appreciation, career counseling and more.
It was decided to follow up on plans by emails and calls and future meetings and interactions have already begun as a result of this meet. Above all, it was a fun gathering and is likely to be followed by an outreach event in February 2012.
